Help With A Trick

Postby Freestyler » Sep 7th, '12, 14:40

Someone in the street performed this trick to me last week, and i've come across someone else doing it on youtube. I'm uncertain how it's done and i found it very good and think it's a brilliant trick, the elastic band has got me thinking and obviously when he hands him the card something has already been pre-set. But i can't work out how the rest is done, it could be something so simple and i'll kick myself, I'm still newish to magic and I'm not the worlds greatest, so if it is something simple i apologise! haha :)

Obviously we don't reveal on the board how things are done, but a PM would be nice! I love this trick and i need to know how it's done!

thanks :)

That's also not allowed sorry :(

To be honest, it's not too difficult to work out how it's done, if that's what you're after.

Some of the more knowledgeable people on here might be able to point you in the right direction, as to where you could source the information that you're after :)

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

Now to remember where i found the method to this.....oh no wait i used the only logical conclusion as to how it is done

For some advice Freestyler, i would suggest you refer to the following books, Royal Road to Card Magic, Expert at the Card Table and Card College if you have them....also cannot sing the praises of Street Magic by Paul Zenon enough to be honest.

I unfortunately won't be giving you the method for this trick that you so desire, but if you refer to the books i have given you above, you will eventually get one of those lightbulb moments!

Research "transpositions" is probably the best i can offer here, i was the same as you when i first started out, wanting to know how tricks were done, instead of wanting to perform them better and i even nearly spent a pretty penny on various things just to know how they were done, but luckily i listened to the lovely members of TM and saved myself a fortune and am now a better magician for it!

Much love

Aza

Hi Freestyler this is a handling usually used with business cards. If you are keen on learning it some
Board members such as Lee Smith have handlings of this in step system
Volume 2. In general the effect is called Out to Lunch. I would go with Aza and get your card handling down first as it wouldnt be something I would be doing unless I was confident with my handling and misdirection.

If you want to know more about the
Method and history see Ed Woods post: sutra391654.php

I've worked it out, i had a good think and watched. Had a go myself after finding some scissors and a nice thick elastic band ;)

Performed it twice tonight, huge reactions! love it! :)
