As silly this sounds.. where is the best place online to go to for reasonable elementary magic props like cups and balls, sponges balls, rope for magic etc.

Thanks!

Try any of the advertisers on TM, most of them will be able to supply the items you need.

I always used 2 inch but it really is a question of what best suits you. They are so cheap that it is worth getting both sizes. I also highly recommend the Gosh 3D sponge bunnies, these are not just for children and there are several great routines you can do with them. Ideal for restaurants and weddings.

Seconded, if you get supersoft balls don't forget to soak them and wring them out before a performance so they expand and look even more impossible.
I get people asking me to repeat the bunnies and sponges more than any other effect.

According to the late Steve Dacri (an expert with sponges), 3"!

Unless you have the tiniest of tiny hands, for most routines, you should be fine with 2" sponge balls, but try both regular and supersoft. I think this may be more important than buying two different sizes. Some love the very soft sponges, but others find they lose their shape too quickly.
