Torched and Restored

Postby Johnny Wizz » Jun 13th, '05, 09:52

Bought this after reading the responses to the question about the best of the type last week.

It looks really good and I also bought some bike seconds to use with it. On the video dem a butane torch is used which looks really impressive. Does anyone know if you can get anything like it anywhere in this country (UK) or will I have to make do with a cigarette lighter?

You could also try a cooking shop, as you can get Creme Brulee torch for a bargain price. (They are used to crisp the sugar on the top of the dessert).

This is a little pricey: https://www.lakelandlimited.com/is-bin/ ... ctSKU=1882

But it's a good size and I am SURE you could find it cheaper.

A gas cooker lighter?

I think you are missing the point here... there are two types of gas cooker lighters... a 'spark' generator and a long-snouted lighter.

Now... a spark generator is absolutely USELESS for this effect.
And a long-snouted lighter is not much more use than a regular lighter, as it produces nothing more than a flame, and is a lot less portable.

Have you actually READ this whole topic?
