Getting Started in Magic - a disorganised guide!

Postby Joe King » Oct 2nd, '12, 19:26

Hi. I'm new to this. Can anyone help me out with an effective way of dropping a card from the right hand onto the top of the deck while retrieving the top card from the deck back into the right hand (deck held in left). Its just a simple switch. I saw David Blane using it on a trick I'm trying to perfect. Its almost invisable when he does it. (I know: Its David Blane!) I know its a simple question but any help would be appreciated. Cheers Joe

Joe, do you have a video you could link us to?

I'm having a bit of trouble understanding your request?

Also pop into the introductions area and tell everyone a bit about yourself

Much love

Looks like you're asking about a t*p ch**ge. In which case it's described/taught in Royal Road (and I assume many other basic card sleight technique books/resources).
Ian Kendall has a PDF with embedded video you can buy, specifically teaching this sleight.

Getting started in magic. 2card monty

Postby Joe King » Oct 11th, '12, 22:16

Thanks for the replys guys. The trick is the 2 card monty. I've attached the youtube link below. It's the final switch, the Queen of Diamonds to Ace of Spades. His misdirection patter is great but what are the mechanics of the switch. Happens sooo fast! Cheers Joe

Joe, what is your background in magic? Why not drop by the introductions forum and let us know a little about you?

I'd really recommend getting yourself a copy of the Royal Road to Card Magic, that'll cover just about everything that you need to know.
