Don't think that grabbing hold of kids and trying to force them to kiss would go down very well with parents in the UK, must be different in the USA!

Since moving across to Childrens entertainment, I have come to appreciate Silly Billy and I really do believe he is the best. I am a little disappointed by the price of this though. The patter is as usual, fantastic and lets be honest, it is all about the presentation but around £200 for silks and a Ch@@@e b@@? It is a little steep. Maybe it is down to the quality of the Silk used.
I have used the Headless Cartoon silks and to be honest, you can still get a funny presentation and story out of them and they are a lot cheaper. I also make up my own silks so on this occasion I think I will steer clear of this one mainly because of the price.
That said, I still believe David Kaye Rocks!!!

You have pretty much hit the nail on the head

(a) That price for some silks? Wtf?

(b) David Kaye is the nuts and the person we should all be learning from

(c) Any other cartoon silks and imagination will achieve the same effect

Pros
Gets four children involved at once
Audience participation
Nice time filler


Cons
Not much magic
Encouraging kids to kiss etc not really my scene
Story not great? (although could be improved)
£200 for 4 silks...

I think that is pretty much it. You have covered it.
It also seems to be geared up for entertaining adults as well (the Barry White music was a nice touch on this) and as they are the ones who make the decision to book you, this seems like a good marketing idea. I just can't get my head around the cost especially when there are similar silks out there that can do pretty much the same thing. I get stuff from the US fairly often and it seems to be cheaper and reasonable over there but this is certainly an exception. A pity really. I wonder how much it will be over here?

We are going to Practical Magic's Trix in the Stix in May so it will be interesting to see if it is there in the dealers Hall and what price it is.

It is still a great bit of entertaining though but unless I am missing something, I would not pay much more than £75 for it.

It's a nice story - I think you could come up with your own story using other printed silks, but if you wanted this story then why is £200 too much? If you are a professional magician you might perform the routine 100's of times a year. Isn't it better to get the professional quality props that you want rather than looking for something cheaper that doesn't do the right job. That's the same when booking magicians, isn't it?

If it doesn't suit, skip the making them kiss bit - and just go straight to the kisses in the bag.

Finally, on the video what does the kid say when he asks 'what does the guy in jail say?' I couldn't quite hear it.

I still think around £200 or what ever the conversion rate is at the moment for a few silks and a bag is too much unless the silks are of a fantasic superior quality that I don't know about. Maybe I am missing something here? Agreed, the money is recouped after 1 or 2 shows but I don't think that that is the point. I make and print my own silks and they are good quality, certainly not inferior and have lasted many years. I also do not pay a great deal for them.
Yes it is a nice story, and if you like it then around £200 is acceptable but most magicians can perhaps write their own story to suit.
