Ball Chain and Ring

Postby The4thCircle » Oct 6th, '12, 01:57

So I was at the IBM convention in Yarmouth last week (did you spot me?) and I bought (amongst other things) a box containing a loop of ball chain and 3 knots which could be detatched and re-joined magically onto the chain.... And a metal ring.

None of the instructions even mention the metal ring or what it's for. The routines on the enclosed videos never show the ring and it is neither depicted nor mentioned on the written instructions. I know it's not there by accident though, because the box packaging has a picture of the 3 knots, the loop and this ring.

What on earth is the ring for?

(you may now congratulate me on a post containing the words ball and ring several times without anything worthy of the innuendo bingo)

Weary of exposure here so I'll just ask, is it for that trick where you hold the chain through the ring, drop the ring, and the ring is tied at the bottom?

Ahhh... Maybe.

That would make sense.

I just found it odd because other than the ring's presence on the front of the box, it isn't mentioned.

I know a ring on loop technique for a larger ring and a rope, probably just a knack to adapt.
