ok 7 tricks 50 mins £100.
45 tricks per hour £300.

i think on both occsassions i give value for money.

i aso do a psychic evening for adults in wich i probalby do around 5 or 6 tricks in two hours for £150.
each type of show is still being asked for even though I'm not trading now so i must be doing something right. :?:

Seige...I am probadly one of the most laid back magicians you would find on this forum, sorry if I came across like I on the attack, that just is NOT me....
For the record,my show is not BAM,BAM,BAM,one trick after another,as for the PMs,your guess is as good as mine as to why they are not supporting me here,I am now going to back off from this subject,I love my Magic, and most of the people involved in it,and do not wish to offend anyone if I can help it.......

From experience, I find that Children are the most difficult audience to entertain and my performance is definately geared towards adults. I've tried a few with the spoinge balls etc. and it just didn;t work for me so I have the greatest respect for those who can, and do perform for children.

There are points that I agree with and disagree with that havw already been written here. I would say that the experienced children's magician will be able to judge the audience and go with the flow. Some will appreciate the BAM BAM BAM type effects (hard work by the sheer number of tricks) whilst some will appreciate the slow half dozen tricks spred across an hour or so. It is about being entertained but the perception of the show may well be different for both the children and the adult(s) who are paying and watching.

Whatever your style, I think that you need to talk through your performance at the time of the booking so that the person making the booking knows roughly what they are getting. If they are expecting 40 tricks and you give them just six then it is partly your fault for not setting out your stall properly. Likewise, if someone queries why they are getting just 6 tricks then it's your job to convince them.

One thing, and from a non children entertainer - I would suggest that one of the critical factors for entertaining children is the audience participation bit

personally i greatly enjoy entertaining children with magic and defenitely would encourage every magician to atleast try it..Frankly i never thought id the least bit enjoy performing for kids but decided to give it a shot one day and performed for about 3 classes of grade 3-4 kids...wow did i ever have a blast and they enjoyed it too...now thats pretty much who i target but also perform for family and freinds a lot...defenitely try it out but keep in mind what you want to do also...if your a mentalist, it might not really work with kids as with them most of your effects need to be purely visual...

Items i would suggest when performing for kids are the following...

1.) D'lite (pair) - its a must
2.) Change Bag
3.) Comedy Funnel
4.) Large Die box
5.) Jokers Tube
6.) Chinese Sticks (absolutely hillarious)
7.) Zombie Ball
8.) Good Old TT

So i was either thinkin of multiplying wands or colour changing wands i saw on ebay....can i get someones opinion on those...

yes.

die box is a great idea or run rabbit run both give you scope for finding the rabbit / die and are real kiddy screamers.

zombie is a bit dated as kids thease days say ok it floats whats your point.

breakaway wands are still fun but a drooping / wilting wand is more fun, pop off wands go down well too.

If I can offer my opinion?

The multiplying wands is a cracker. You don't really have to say much during this routine as the multiplying wands generate enough laughter. You act suprised when wands keep appearing and if the kid is not too young, they can hold all the wands - 1 under each arm, 1 ineach hand, 1 between the legs, 1 under the chin etc.

The pop off wand is also great. The kids laugh so much when the ends keep popping off and I am running after the ends.

Breakaway wand is essential in my opinion.

Comedy wands are fine and will always have their place in a Children's show but so often I see performers do breakaway wand, breakaway fan, and then into every comedy wand on the market. You will find you will get many more laughs if this situation is not over-done. Much the same as having too many sucker routines in one show.
