whats your best pocket trick

Postby seymourmagic » Oct 15th, '12, 14:53

other than card effects as i have a ton of already what small trick have any of you found to be very effective? I suppose mine would be signed coin to a locked box inside you find a nest of boxes, in the final box is a rubberbanded bag holding the signed coin, this actually is combining two tricks into one, more effective this way, whats yours?

Not really an answer to your question, but an answer to the question i originally misunderstood your topic to be about (until i read the post):
when i was in high school i used to carry tonnes of random objects in my pockets, and i remember the first time i was struggling to find something, so i took items out of my pockets one at a time and handed them to my friend, including a ball of string that unraveled as i pulled out and the same with a wound up tape measure...
My friends reacted to it like they reacted to my magic tricks at the time.
Since then i've always wanted a way of suddenly pulling out loads of stuff from my pocket (but stuff that wasn't actually in my pocket) - 20 decks of cards, 10 wallets, 30 mobile phones, 15 sets of keys etc...

For me - that would be my best "pocket trick"

In answer to your question, i keep a packet of cards (handwritten blank business cards so not a card effect) with different pubs in my local area, and different beers. i fan the cards and 1 spectator thinks of a pub, another thinks of a beer.
then i reveal what they are thinking of.

Ditto, always on my key chain. I've got a pretty involved routine around it.

im not concerned with a secret area, I was just wanting to get more known and discuss things, and this is not the only forum i visit and i know very well it is invitation only , i think thats the way it should be, afterall quality of posts should definately outweigh quantity of posts in my opinion

I always carry a nw and a pack of post it's and a pencil in
My back pocket. Also recently got iforce which I now always have with me. Waiting on my showdown wallet and sanctuary, so hopefully I'll also carry them around. And of corse I have a few nice memory ones in my head, while technically not a pocket, I think it falls under the same category.

Bill Transposition/change, and Crazy Mans Handcuffs.

Crazy Mans Handcuffs is so good and so practical. Its angleproof, visual, can be done anywhere and takes up little to no pocket space.

I can't see why any close-up performer wouldn't use it.

I have an effect where I pass someone a folded drawing, ask them to imagine a scene, and the scene they imagine matches the drawing. All me own work.

I also have started carrying a chain with me for fast and loose.

Simon Scott

If the spectator doesn't engage in the effect,
then the only thing left is the method.

I just don't think of it as a "pocket trick" I often forget I have bands on my wrist unless someone says "why have you got rubber bands on your wrist?"
