This is one of the problems with the plastic canes. . .

Try unraveling it and wiping the ribbon with a silicon or even furniture polish cloth such as the disposable wipes put out by Pledge and other such companies. Most of the time it is just dirt that slowing up the spring. But too, if you are storing it in the collapsed position the "memory" to the plastic will change; it's best to leave them open but you do need to work with them.

See my previous post on the difference between the Plastic vs. Metal.

It's because it's often consider a breach of netiquette to post loads of threads in quick succession. Netiquette isn't set in stone, but think about the impression you might give others by asking loads of unrelated questions one after the other, or by creating multiple threads when one would have done. You could have put the two questions about canes in one thread, for example. Did you really need to know about shims, appearing canes and mini illusions all at once?

If you post loads of new things in quick succession, you run the risk of coming across as someone who is scattered, unfocused and maybe a bit demanding. You might wonder why you should care, as you are not breaching any forum rules. Well, sometimes people start ignoring posters who have too much to say, which might mean that you get less information than you would have done had you approached things in a more measured way.

There's nothing wrong with asking questions, and they help keep forums like this one alive. I suggest trying to curb your enthusiasm just a little, as excessive posting can put some people off. :)

Or, as runemasters might say, it is better to ask for nothing than to ask for too much, for a gift demands a gift.

Open it to its fullest, longest length and wrap a rubber band tightly around the white part at the top. This is how you need to store it.

thank you part timer for your explanation that does make very good sense to me now. i was bored , my insomnia was acting up and to be completely honest; i was excessive posting to get full member status posted by my name, not to gain secret access as its invitation only as it should be anyways, but to show longevity in the forums, my apologies. thanks to all that endured my many postings and for the helpful tips. a flash of fire a puff of smoke and *POOF* I'm gone!

Spray furniture polish applied lightly can help to keep the cane lubricated.
