Marc Spelmann has an excellent Staple Gun Routine on his Chapters. The freely chosen staple guns are fired above several volunteers hands by another random Volunteer. The Final Gun then staples something to a piece of wood showing that it was the only one actually loaded. However foolproof you make it though, there is clearly a risk involved but it is a great climax to a show. It has never failed me. Yet.
Good luck with it all and hope it goes well.

Rather than a remote control helicopter, why not get a styrofoam chopper and hang it from the rafters with the prediction attached? Much safer than a spec trying to keep it up for that long.

Just a friendly piece of advice :p , because pub/bar stand up slots is how I started. Please don't take this the wrong way That is waaay to much material for 10 - 15 minutes.

I'd maybe only do 1 and 3, or 1 and 4. Only one routine involving envelopes, otherwise people will confuse the two afterwards. Probably go with 1 and 3 (3 is Kockov's Dialabolical if I'm right :P )

Enjoy the adrenaline buzz and good luck!

P.S If you are really, really, really struggling to get someone up, then the MC/Host/Owner would be a good person to have a word with beforehand if absolutely necesarry.

I think you're right. I'm definitely gonna drop the second one. I'll let you know how it goes!! And number three is/was dial-abolical, but I've got a dictionary locked in a laptop case! ;)

As promised I'm reporting back on my first ever gig! It was at a local Cambridgeshire pub and the Pentacle club were putting on a show. There were 4 magicians on, and I was second up. As I sat down the compare did a few tricks to warm the audience up. Horror of horrors, he performed a routine that was incredibly close to my bank night opener. There was no way I could open with it. But being slightly paranoid, I packed a few backup pieces just in case something unforseen happened. Thank god I did. The theme of my act was originally going to be about risk, so I hastily changed it to being about intuition.

I opened with clip line (a backup). It went down really well. Got a good round of applause although my hands were shaking holding the scissors!!

My blindfold dicionary test was next up. That went really well too. The word chosen was 'Hertzian Wave.' Considering it was my first time in front of an audience, wearing a blindfold was a scary move. However, it went as it should!!

I finished with staplegun roulette. Ably assisted by a fellow TM user (stacey) who thankfully avoided the loaded staple gun (even though I think she was trying to find it :) . This went down well and I think it was a good closer. I got lots of good reviews from the audience afterwards so all in all I was extremely pleased.

Today has been a very very long day. I've been having my photo taken all morning for what I hope will be my super-duper website. I'll post some pics when I get them. I've now thrown my suit over a chair and I'm having a well earned glass of wine!!! Thanks for all your support!

It was very well presented, all the bits were great and I enjoyed firing a stapler into your face more than I could ever admit in public.

Bravo!

PS there is no E in my name. Everyone gets this wrong.

Hahahaha!! Thank god I wasn't using real guns. I think there may have been a queue of volunteers! I'll hopefully see you at the next meet. I promise I'l get your name right!

Well done, good to hear it went so well! I once went to a comedy night where the MC did a bit of warming up and filling in between acts but on no less than four occasions he told jokes which the comedians were about to tell, they had to edit their acts and the MC was not a popular chappie. Tends to suggest that MCs etc should just introduce and explain but not do the same stuff as the acts!
