Hi Mark,

I'm of the opinion that these threads should happen. We are a community here and we all need to be well informed. Whether we discuss it here or not wouldn't change much in my opinion.

In cases where nothing is proven then I suppose things could get messy. In the Bellars case however he openly admitted to the crime.

I wish we didn't have to discuss such things to be honest but what can we do? There are some bad people out there.

I may have been born yesterday but I stayed up all night.

Unless I'm going mad/madder/blind, the Bellars thread has disappeared from the Magic Cafe.

Yup, there are some quite rabidly reactionary people on the Magic Cafe. There are also some people over there for whom personal gain (shiny new magic) far outweighs the suitability of the people producing it to live in decent society.

It's kind of no different to the BBC in the 70s then, the magic world. There was the same cover-up/defence over the Jim Pace situation.

Rest assured as long as this thread is treated in the sensible and adult way it has been so far, it'll stay on view and open for comment as long as required. Obviously there are legal limitations which means all effort must be made for provable facts to be posted rather than wild guesses. We will edit out any inappropriate comments to keep within reasonable limits just like we do with any other thread but so far no such editing has been necessary - thank you all for that.

Well all the facts about Richard are of course in the public domain and sadly anything said about Savile will probably be an understatement of what has actually happened. As each day goes by more and more is revealed, as they say........you couldn't make it up! :(

According to http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-kent-19927270 it's a three-year community order and a sexual offenders prevention order that restricts coming into contact with children unless their parents know of the convictions.

I believe he's already acknowledged that his career is over and done with, certainly in the UK.
