What really surprised me is that they tried to keep it going after losing all trust.

I have heard that the employees are pretty decent. It is a shame that they are tainted by this and that they are the ones who are going to suffer unemployment because of this. Sometimes I think the wealthy victim should take over the company himself, keep it and the employees going and get his money back that way. Just a little fantasy on my part.

Also, the rich guy would get his magic stuff at wholesale prices - sweet justice indeed!

I can't help thinking this is, to draw an unpleasant parallel, a little like being raped and getting a free baby...

I don't know. He had a long standing loyalty to the company. Worth a thought although of course it will never happen.

Lovely idea, Mark. As a trade unionist I hate the way a boss screws up, but the workers (who didn't) get screwed.

When football team screws up, they sack the manager. When a firm screws up they sack the workers. Weird innit?

Marx had a lot to say about this sort of thing. The problem is, he had nothing to say about how to make it better. The real problem is, lots of idiots thought they did have a way of making it better based on what Marx didn't day.

As Marx himself said: "Quote me as saying I was mis-quoted."

Oh, you meant the other one.

I thought that was, "I've had a great evening but this wasn't it."? No, perhaps not....

The law in the UK is definitely 'iffy'. You've all heard that Comet Electrical is in administration but the administrators have decreed that they will honour any gift vouchers sold directly by Comet but not those sent out by Insurance Firms to settle insurance claims for theft or loss. This means the customer now has to battle with the insurers to get products which should have been replaced without any fuss. Deposits on items ordered but not yet supplied may also not be refunded. Again, the Administrators will carve a hefty fee for their services and the punters will be much lower down in the food chain.....
