Books of matches

Postby AA 14 » Nov 15th, '12, 19:53

Several effects I read about require books of matches. Are these easily available in UK these days? I'm thinking maybe hotels or casinos may have them.

"The Ghost Match" is such a good trick to perform with a book.

I guess with the restrictions on smoking in pubs, restaurants and other enclosed places, the demand for match books has declined considerably. In the US they seem to be available from places like http://www.webstaurantstore.com/book-of ... HBOOK.html, in the UK you can get personalised ones from places such as http://www.brideandgroomdirect.co.uk/pr ... s-coloured but they're rather expensive for everyday use.

There's a previous thread at sutra413903.php which might help - ebay seems to be the place to go for such things these days!

Incidentally, trying to get full sized boxes of matches like the old England's Glory ones is very difficult, I needed some for a routine a few weeks back and luckily found them at a cheapo store in Bradford. The same store in Birmingham doesn't stock them. Some places do Ship brand matches but the boxes are half the thickness of England's Glory and won't do the job. England's Glory are now only made in Sweden and can be bought in quantity from e bay suppliers but if you only need a few boxes you're not going to be very lucky.
