Hamleys Cardiff has opened today in St Davids 2 shopping centre (right in the centre of town).

Theyve got a shelf full of Marvins Magic things there but no one demoing anything. It seems to be the normal packet tricks (Dynamic coins, D'lites etc) and some nice box sets that would make nice christmas presents for the younger magician.

I guess I will be popping in there when I go back for Xmas.

Hamley's is the toy shop of the future; you can see what prices will be like in 10 years time.

Years ago they had a branch in Debenhams in Birmingham and they stocked all sorts of magic, not just Marvins range. When that store was closing down I bought loads of props and tricks at less than 10% of the proper price - can't remember what I did with them byt they were a bargain! More recently they had a branch in House of Fraser, again selling just the Marvins range, but even that's now gone. Weren't Hamley's bought by a big conglomerate recently?

My local Asda was selling some Marvin stuff at the weekend. They were on their 2 games for £10 shelves. I got a couple to put away for Christmas. I expect it is a nationwide offer.

I remember visiting Hamleys in London in the late 70s, and the magic items were very good at the time. Not sure what type of magic they have today? But do know they have a regular magician in the store performing to the younger one's..

They just do Marvin's range these days.

Oh right.. Sadly Marvins range is not my type,,
