Is it me....

Postby Mandrake » Nov 26th, '12, 10:30

or has TM got a bit quiet recently? Perhaps the awful weather, the gloomy days, or even life, the universe and everything has slowed us all down?

Is anybody doing anything special for Festive entertainment - shows, family gigs, party bookings etc?

42.

Jokes apart, for me it is the fact that currently I have lot of work to do, lot of magic material to study (and not much time to do it) and the fact that the forum has gone quiet: I have not many topics to introduce and since there are very few new posts, also not much to comment on.
Also, Christmas is approaching (with its huge expenses) and I have not much money to spend on new magic shiny things.

I was thinking about launching a new Charity Christmas Challenge (although much simpler than last year's), but I have not given any new serious thought on it...

I've noticed that. I was snowed under with the Halloween rush, and now I'm deep into new product development so I haven't had much time to sit and read the forum other than early morning before settling down to work.

Not just you, I've noticed it quieten down a bit too.
I think it's the quiet time of year for a lot of things; offshore pipe coating certainly isn't what it was 4 months ago!

With all the floods, rain, gloomy dark days and nights, plus eejit politicians making the usual pig's ear of things, it's sometimes difficult to feel bright and cheerful!

For anyone who's working on routines etc for Christmas/New Year parties, hope it all goes well and let us know the outcome.

It has gone very quiet. The few posts that are here seem to be about close-up, which for me is the same as an empty forum.

I might do a review of 'The Chapters of Marc Spelman' to cheer you all up. It's an old dvd but I think it's a classic and I see no-one's ever reviewed it (not that I can find anyway). I've been meaning to do it for a while but at 4 DVD's and about fifty million hours long I've found it difficult to summon up the energy.

K :D

It's because i've calmed down posting so much and been out working

I think we should organise a big TM meet.....as many members as we can in the new year, thoughts anyone?

Much love

We're off to Tenerife for 2 weeks over Xmas, we'll be back for the new year. This'll be our 4th consecutive xmas there .... so much better when you've got the sun on your back :P

Where and when are you going - we might just bump into each other when we're showing our tricks off at the bar .......

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

I concur. But the problem is it will never happen.
London has their meets down south, Tao have their meetings in the middle and up north there's nothing anymore!
We used to have a gathering at Blackpool each year but that seems to have dwindled away too

Personally I suggest we all meet up in Leeds one Saturday.
It's nice and central and has good transport links. Also plenty of bars that are happy to accomodate drunk magicians

I've been thinking the same thing too. Then again, the majority of my time is spent cleaning up the various fluids that periodically leak out of my recently spawned progeny so I only get a chance to poke around here when I'm at work and nobody is in the office. Coupled wth the fact that my interests have moved in the last few months from close-up to bizarre and mentalism and I've not yet been granted access to the mentalism pages, I find little that I feel I would be useful to comment upon. I try to keep my post count up by adding stuff to the Innuendo Bingo thread but that probably doesn't count as a significant contribution. :)

I do have pictures of my 5 month old daughter dressed up as a skelington for hallowe'en though!

Now that's something that I'm an expert at. :D

Things seem to go through phases, I've noticed that things can be quiet for a few months and then go silly before calming down again.

We've got both sides of the family coming to us for Christmas with Dave's family all either staying with us or nearby until after the New Year so I'll probably put together a little evening show at some point but I've not got anything else lined up.
