Never cared to even watch these volumes, anyone care to review them? A comparison to the 6 previous ones would be nice as well...

Rune - I've seen a couple of reviews of all 9 in the series and recall that the general consensus was that 1 - 6 are excellent but 7 - 9 aren't worth getting. It's for this reason that I have 1 - 6 (and feel that they were well worth the money) but I don't intend getting the last 3 in the series.

I'm thinking of buying this set of DVD's, 1-6 seem to be the best of the series. I'm assuming they are for beginner (DVD 1) to expert (DVD9) do the tricks use gaffed decks or can the tricks be done with un-gaffed cards?and would you say that a total novice (as I am) can learn the tricks?

No, they are not organized in that way. DVD9 is not harder than DVD1.

The routines are generally done with normal cards. Each DVD has a "special effect" which requires gaffed card(s) which is/are included. Michael Ammar is an excellent teacher but, as with all magic, the effects don't come easily so you'll have to practice what he teaches before you let yourself loose on unsuspecting family, friends or the public!

Think you've nailed the problem I've had with this series in that the material was not progressive and therefore (although good to watch) I found that they didn't provide any incentive in terms of attainment and extending (the already possesed) skills.

1 - 6 were useful as they presented me with stuff I could do quite quickly and yet didn't take me out of my comfort zone.

I found myself returning to books for the 'can't do - must learn stuff'
