Okay, I have purchased 2 Glorpys since i began practising magic and am going to try to make my own.
The first was a standard Glorpy. I liked it but after a while the w**e started to poke through.
The other was Eugene Burger's Spirit Scarf. But for me this is a little on the small side. It does have one good feature though in that the w*** has been dipped so it won't tear. I think I recall somehwere that this may of been with tool dipping fluid that creates a rubber like coating around metal. Does anyone know where I can get this or if this is the right thing?

I've made quite a few of these over the years. In fact I'll be making another sometime over the next couple of weeks for an idea I have.

What I do smooth the end with a file to get rid of sharp edges, then bend (fold) a tiny bit at the end of the wire back on its self with pliers and press it flat. This ensures that, in use, the part that rises has no chance of ever poking through the fabric. Its also much easier to insert as it doesn't catch.

Many thanks for the reply. Out of interest what type of wire do you use?

I just use whatever I can get at the time. As long as its stiff enough and of suitable thinness I'll use it. Once I used one of those giant paperclips.
