Hi everyone,

Does anyone perform this routine? I've recently bought the "Mental Masterpieces" dvd http://www.mymagic.com/becker.htm and have been really impressed with the Casino Royal routine. It requires a number of props which can be purchased (at a large cost!) from Viking Magic http://www.vikingmagiccompany.com/?nd=full&key=45

I wondered if those who do perform this routine have purchased this set or make their own equipment?

I am thinking of trying to piece together and make the equipment myself and wondered if anyone has done the same. Larry says on his video that it is fine to do this, but if you want a ready made set then see Viking.

Any tips?

Thanks!!!

It's something I've toyed with buying. It's an item I'd consider for a proper show, but it is a lot of money.

I think making up a set for yourself, if you live in the UK, would be a huge pain. Making up a set if you are US resident would merely be a pain.

My comments would be:

1. Yes, it's a great effect, but is it so very good that you need to buy it? Would you get sufficient use, for example, or would the use it got justify it? This is why I have never bought it.

2. If you like the effect, could you not achieve much the same, but via other means? I can certainly think of other methods that would lead to a similar result. They might not be quite so glamorous, but I refer back to point 1. You could use the items from an alternative presentation to do many more effects and indeed one method could use a very cheap prop that every mentalist should own.

3. Consider getting the Lite version. Personally, if I did this, I'd want the original, as it would be a big part of an act, but the Lite one would be easier to move round and could be done in close-up more readily.
