Where to find?

Postby CardManipulator » Feb 16th, '13, 22:45

I was looking for some gambling demos and then some site was referring to YouTube...Although I never visit yt for magic, but this guy is pretty damn good.
I wanted to know where I could learn this top stock control.I think it is in some of the classic books, but I hope if someone knows where precisely it is he could reply...
Here is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkRQ_01UG94" target="_blank
Go and check other of his videos they are very good...
Thanks

Erm, which bit are you referring to?
The riffle retaining top stock is straight forward
Or do you mean the cut?

The cut seems to be an 'up the ladder' cut. I found this on the Greatest Gambling routines dvd by L and L.

You found exactly the same or something related to this?
I taught to he was doing up the ladder, but how is he holding the break? Is it maybe the bottom card crimped?
Thanks

AFAIK, no break is needed for an up the ladder (false) running cut. I use the technique taught in Card College Vol II.

Or you could have the aces on the top of the deck before and after the cut, and since it's not a full deck control there's no need to cut at a specific point so no need for a break

ermmm, I can try

before doing the cut you have the aces on the top of the deck
do a false cut
aces are still on top of the deck

therefore it made no difference where you cut the deck, so no break needed

I think what card manipulator is saying, is that the up the ladder would leave the aces on top, but in the routine he cuts the deck (seemingly fair) after the false cut.

I think ive noticed something, but for the sake of exposure ill send a pm.

I think that there is something pretty noticeable too, I suspect the cut is just a continuation of the up the ladder.

That's what Relish told me and I think it is the answer. He squares up and then just proceeds with the last cut from up the ladder...
Thanks

No need for a break or a crimp, in fact what he is doing is very basic. He is just moving very quickly.
