Postby midge25 » Mar 1st, '13, 23:11

I am looking for a good UK flipper coin but I am a bit confused of the pros and cons of what is available. We could someone help with the difference between,

Flipper
Gravity flipper
Magnetic flipper

Please?

If it best to keep this off public board then please pm me

Thanks

http://kbmagic.com/ukcointricks.html this site should help.

a regular flipper will not sit open on a table or hand but makes for some spectacular vanishes think of it like a venus fly trap.

a gravity flipper is opened by gravity  can sit on a hand or table without jumping 15ft in the air and vanishing. :)

a magnetic flipper depending on the type ie strength can be tossed between hands without fear of premature opening :P most good ones like the oxf's and next gen flips require another coin to open them.

a split / clone coin essentialy replaces a gravity flipper and can be shown seperated one in each hand etc, a DF'er will replace a slippery shell / copper silver coins.

a T.U.C. replaces a flipper and a slippery shell and the copper silver version will do everything the DF'er can......... for legal reasons I must state a tuc is neither a slippery sam or flipper combo or a scotch and soda, although it will do all thease things....... it is a totaly unique design........ :D gin and tonic anyone.

persoanly I'd go for a clone coin 10p or £2 version and get craigs dvd split happens for more rutines and a fancy mentalism effect.

Nope - two completely different gimmicks. I obviously can't go into issues which may potentially expose, but lets just say you can show both sides of a split/clone coin, whereas a Slippery Sam (or shell) you certainly cannot. The SS was pioneered by Steve Dushek, if my failing memory serves

@dale

too my understanding a slippery shell / sam (there the same) is an expanded shell with a portion of the **m ***d to alow a coin to slide in and out easily (yeah bingo thread), thease are used a lot in coins across routines to make some of the slieghts easier.

a split / clone coin is diferent, there is no shell and it is made from two coins, they are more akin to a penn through bill gimmick and are primarily used to get "one ahead" when starting with one coin routines without the need to palm a second coin and for coins across it allows you to show just one coin in the hand prior too and after the jump.

i'd like to give comercial examples of thease but that would be giving the gimmicks used away.

Having looked at the options I think the TUC on the kb site is the way to go as it seems to most versatile.

since you would'nt leave either in the specs hand for meer seconds then there pretty much even tuc & split/clone, trust me I have had variations of both coin sets.

if you have an idea how a tuc works then I'll need to imform you that the tuc is made from 3.... yes 3 coins wether you get the copper silver version or regular version and that bit you think can be used for other effects like coins across or photo coin with other regular coins cant....... its not made the way you think its special..... almost unique
the other part looks like a regular coin but you would not leave it in the specs hand for too long as it has the same flaw as a clone but dosn't seperate, it meerly comes down to choice of coin and price point to choose between them, they both can be used for one ahead, vanishes and apearences. :)

Hi I am aware of both the workings of the TUC and the split coin.

Whilst I like the idea of the TUC I am going to go for the split coin for now, puely on a cost basis, if I can acheive what I want with this then it will do, if not then I will get a TUC
