TARANTULA TIPS

Postby barcrawl » Mar 13th, '13, 18:26

I've been experimenting with the tarantula, and I've invented a way to do the exact same coin/ring levitation trick without having to conceal the bulky tarantula in my hands. Instead all I have to conceal is a piece of tape, And it's VERY practical. The setup to my version is basically a piece of tape, IT, and wax. the thread is really long, measured from my neck down to below my knees(just experiment to get the right length exactly). once I have it at that length i attach the tape end to the bottom of my shirt on my left(it's not that visible) and i bring the thread up my body, over my shoulders, and down the right side, and attach the wax to the bottom of the other side of my shirt. then I'm ready to perform the trick. all i do is attach the tape to my left hand and its like i have the tarantula in it, just not the reel, which isn't even needed for this trick.

This may sound impractical when first read, but you can actually set this effect up SEVERAL times. just attach wax to the end of your thread, pull out the appropriate length of thread, attach tape, then WRAP the thread around the tape until the wax is touching it. Thats 1 setup, and its enough to do the trick 1-3 times, so do the following several times until you have several setups. then place all the setups inside a small altoid box or something similar so you can put it all in your pocket. The altoid box will protect your IT and tape setups. Now you're setup to do the trick all night as many times as you want :)

Respond to this post or PM me about this. I also want to know how I can better perform this variation that I prefer.

I've seen your set up before. I've even played with a similiar set up and if it works for you then fantastic. I like the Turantuala and here is how I use it. Purchase the Fearson floating cig routine. (you don't have to use a cig) Really the Fearson hook up is one of the best. Enter the Turantula. Get your desired length of thread, you can find out how to do that in the Fearson instructions. And use the set up with the Turanutula that enables you to lock the thread in place at a certain length as shown in the video instructions of the Turanutula. Now you are set. You are going to use the Fearson hookup with the ease of Turantula. It sets in seconds in front of the spectator. You don't have to walk around with IT around you. It is always ready to go! When you are done floating the object. Boom! release, the thread is out of the way and you are ready to go again. As long as you treat it with respect it will last you a good long time.

Yes the drawback is that the Turantuala is in your hand. But it is designed to show your hands empty, and the spectator never even looks as your hands are always there in view. Float the object up and down, around, through your fingers, through the spectators fingers, whatever. Magic poetry.

As an afterthought for those of you who may decide to invest in the expense of a Turantula and thinking you will be purchasing a miracle I offer the following to think about. The Turantula is mechanical and does break down. As with almost all IT it is finnicky and a royal pain in the bottom. There is a long learning curve to get it right. There are adjustments that have to be made. It is not an instant miracle. But like every other piece of magic apperatus you buy, you can with time, effort and dedication certainly create a miracle. Chances are, it will end up in the bottom of that box with all the other stuff you purchased got disgruntled and never used. For those that stick with it, your spectators will thank you.
