Card revelation with Bicycle deck

Postby Anjorno » Mar 18th, '13, 23:08

I don't use any other decks other than bicycle decks. Well anyway I've noticed on quite a few ace of spades the code on it ends with a number and a H. Well what i do with any new deck I get that I notice this on, I blot out the rest of the code with a black Sharpie. Then I force on to them the corresponding card. For example 4H I would use 4 of hearts. Next I say I'm going to reveal the name of your card, then spread through the deck for the ace of spades and just show them it. Usually they say it's not their card but then I remind them that I said "I'm going to reveal the name of your card", I proceed by showing them the code at the bottom of the ace.
I suppose if you have the right deck you could do the same with spades, diamonds and clubs. the code depends on the year it was made as to the letter used. As anyone else ever noticed this and applied it in this manner?

A similar thing to keep in mind is the fact that the back of the pack always shows the ten of hearts as the exposed card.

Jay Sankey marketed a version and he had them printed. The code on ace was the chosen/force card.

yeah, but doing it my way saves on money. Any old incomplete decks you've used cards from for a signed card trick, just go through the ace of spades any that match up with the criteria I explained (a number 2 to 9 followed by a C, H, S or D) take out and blot out the rest of the code for the revelation. Also Jay Sankey's version uses a G******ED ace along with the other cards while mine is completly clean.

You asked for any other versions? So that was one of them.

Plus the card will go unnoticed. I think a Spectator is more likely to notice sharpie on a card more than genuine text?

I'm sure it's safe to say that a signature on a card has been "noticed" they might not have mentioned it but it would be hard not to notice it.

Have you considered using the rest of the code as a reveal?

The card isn't signatured it's just a little black mark blotting out the rest of the code.

OK, guess I didn't properly read the above.

My question then is, why cover it up?
And also, Have you considered using the rest of the code as a reveal?

No, the rest of the code is just random numbers and letters and cant be used to predict or reveal anything, that being the reason I mark out the rest of the code.
Look at this unmarked Ace of Spades

I think that Lawrence is saying that you COULD use the rest of the code, random or not, simply by perhaps assigning the other letters other meanings.

Yeah, OK. But how the hell would you apply a a meaning to the rest of the code, like I said the rest of the code seems irrelevant and in no way could be made to mean something.
Unless any of you could find a way?
The picture URL I posted in my previous comment is how most of the codes layout, with the numbers and letters varying in value.
