Alternative moves (cards)

Postby DavMac » Apr 3rd, '13, 17:57

Hi,

I'm looking for an alternative move to the Braue Reversal, whilst the move is working in my routine it doesn't feel or look natural in the context of everything else that's happening.

I need to get the top face down card of the pack to be face up in the middle of the pack, this can be in the motion of turning the pack over.

I did accidentally discover a one card pass type move that reverses the top card into the middle of the pack, if someone could point me in the direction of a name for this move as I'm 100% sure I didn't create it but it would be nice to find it's real name for it, it's currently in my notebook as a "one card turnover pass". It's too "noisy" to use at the moment and a little bit fiddly. (Requires more practice).

Thanks in advance.

I'm not too sure how well it'd work but could you slip the top card off the pack and slide it under the deck when turning it over (there's a name for that move but I can't remember what it is), that'd leave the card reversed on the bottom of the deck. From there a cut or pass into the middle?

Seated: Buckley Reverse (a card is reversed during a tabled riffle shuffle).
Standing: Trouser/ leg Reverse.

Followed by a shift/pass.

Card College 1 (or is it 2?) has a section on reverses.

Trouser leg reverse is the best. I usually do i say in an ambitious card when I give them the card to sign, I will drop the deck to my side casually.

Don't know the Buckley reverse but the trouser leg reverse is really good. I learned it from Oz Pearlmanns Born to Perform and it all takes place as you let your hand fall naturally to your side. You just need an offbeat or distraction moment and it is done

Have no idea what the name is, but you can also go ahead and use a pass with one card. Grab yourself a pinkie break under the top card, then execute an invisible pass, kind of pulling the deck straight up, the top card will actually pivot under your hand and end up on the bottom of the deck face up. From there it is up to you. Just an idea.
