New York!

Postby fiftytwo » Apr 9th, '13, 08:34

So, next month we're going over to the US for a wedding. And I'm wondering if I can sneak a trip to a magic shop into the visit.

What though is it worth buying in the US? Most stuff is also available here and luggage space will be tight...

Ideas?

I'd say have a go at Tannen;'s Magic shop. Its near the empire state building
though if youre not really looking to buy then probably don't bother.

I've been to NY a few times, where are you staying? If its somewhere near where ive been I might be able to suggest some local joints.

Just outside in the countryside, actually. We're planning some daytrips in though...

I prefer Fantasma to Tannen's - it has some Houdini memorabilia, so even if you're not buying you can browse that and everyone was very friendly too. I showed a trick to some young people in the shop.

Beware of where you buy Bicycle playing cards. I was in Chicago last year and bought some from a regular store. The indexes of the cards were a completely different size to the Bikes I'd purchased previously in the UK.

Well After a whirlwind of activity, and eight * hours on a plane, where I wasn't even allowed to use an electric cigarette, the b******s, I suddenly find myself in New York. I'm currently in Chelsea, and I'm going to check out Tannens, but I'm happy to make a day trip if you can recommend any good places.
