Old-Style Bike deck boxes

Postby SpareJoker » Jan 30th, '13, 11:44

Where can I purchase the old-style Bicycle (poker 808) deck boxes (the one's with the angel backs that match the backs of the cards)?

Or, is there somewhere where I can purchase adhesive angel-back stickers?

How many do you need?

Just a couple. I like to use the box to ring-in cards for certain effects, and this will only work if the back of the card matches the back of the box.

Funny enough I sorted all the Tuc Boxes I have here to separate the ones without a label on them. You can pop round and pick a couple up if you like or I can post them to you.

Can't you split a back of a pack of cards and glue that on, or would that look rubbish?

One option I've heard of people doing is keeping the celophane on and simply slipping a card inside it over the new back. Perhaps that and a combination of Jing's idea?

I know most of you are in the UK, so it might not be cost effective, but theory11 has a deal with The United States Playing Card Company to continue having their Bicycle cards in the old tuck boxes. They specifically do this because of the variety of illusions and gimmicks that require the box to look like the back of a card.

Here's a link to their Bicycle order listing: http://www.theory11.com/playingcards/bicycle.php

I've seen something similar at The Playing Card Collection, but the pic only shows the front, so I wasn't sure they were old or new style.

I ordered some from http://www.magicshop.co.uk/ recently and they came in old style boxes. Might be worth dropping them an email to see if they have any for you!

If the box says "Standard" on the front, it's the new box; if it says "Rider Back", it's the old box.

Thanks for the info. As it happens, I'd ordered a couple of gaff decks last week, and they arrived in old-style boxes.

I tend to glue an old card on the back, and leave the cellophane on. Of course cutting the notch out at the top and sticking half seal back on it passes a brief inspection
