yeah yeah..no hard feelings at all...i sounded a bit harsh with that too...

Just wondering if anyone had considered that instead of asking the poor mods to change the software for us, why not just put these 'titles' that you want in your own signature?

Your signature appears as many times as your avatar, so it makes sense.

good idea zack but then we have everyone puttin these into their signature which takes away from the whole feeling of obtaining a title

As zigzag pointed out, using the siggy sort of ruins the point - it means that any new user who joins can have this 'special' title. IMHO 'twould be a lot better if it was something you had to achive - for example, if you get into the MO area then you get a title like "Trusted Magi" :). Or, if you post 5 good routines, then you get "Creator". And so on.

No offense guys but I think there is absolutely no need to change the forum titles. All it will do is add to the unnecessary politics that pop up from time to time.

If you're worth listening to and write posts worth reading you will "achieve" people's respect without the need for a change in your title.

If we are going to change any titles I think it should be:

1000+ = I have too much time on my hands.
2000+ = I haven't seen sunlight for two years.
3000+ = I can't remember my real name.
4000+ = My chair and I are one.

All the best,

Will Wood

Mandrake gestures hypnotically (haven't done that for ages!), his tired old eyes seek inspiration from the horizons of mystical other worlds, he considers the questions and finally utters:

My chair and I are as one with the universe, glasshopper.

(Sometimes, only sometimes, Mandrake can be a right berk)

In my experience of message boards, putting more "rewards" for post count just ends up with you having a board full of useless posts made by people striving to get their post count up.

I would honestly leave things as they are, as it is now the board is relatively clean of aformentioned junk!

Unfortunately, it would still seem that some members think that this forum operates off an automated 'More Posts = More Areas Unlocked' system.

How wrong can they be.

In fact, by adding more and more meaningless posts, new members are sealing their own fate, as the system runs on human decision making—not just by the moderators/admin, but by general acceptance of members into the community.

There is NO quick way to gain access to these areas (and God bless all those who email/PM us asking 'how many posts until I get in?').

This is primarily a forum, and secondly a community. Acceptance into the FOURM is easy. Just sign up.

However—acceptance in the COMMUNITY mimics real life—if you fit the criteria, you will be accepted.
