Magic recall - Stuck to the Floor

Postby Replicant » May 6th, '08, 17:46

I was a little surprised to have received this email earlier - not often you see a magic recall. Anyone got this? Is it really that bad?

In my ongoing effort to bring you only the best in mentalism, another item has been recalled from eMagicSupply.com.

The item is "Stuck to the Floor" by Fraser Parker. If you have purchased this item within the last 60 days and are unsatisfied with it, please contact support@emagicsupply.com for a full refund.

This item has failed to live up to the expectations of our customers and therefore will no longer be offered on eMagicSupply.com.

Yes it is unusual for a magic site to admit that we made a mistake in offering an item that was not up to par. But I am committed to bringing you only the best of the best in magic and mentalism. I would rather refund you out of my own pocket than sell you something I know many people are not happy with.

Again, if you have purchased this item and are not satisfied with it please contact support@emagicsupply.com for a full refund.

Your patronage is sincerely appreciated.

All the best!

Steve Fearson

At least they have the decency to admit it's c*** (not the best) and have withdrawn it from sale and offering refunds. Doesn't do much for Parker's reputation, though. Makes me wary of his other products now.

Are you serious? If so, that is extracting the urine to the highest degree.

Funny that. Because I would say the same about several Kenton Knepper or Doc Hilford effects... "flash your open hand in front of their eyes, and that will psychologically tell them to select the four of clubs."

Most "hypnotist" stuff is exactly the same line... "clench your hands tightly... you can actually feel them stuck, can't you?!" Ho hum. It's all so much snake oil to me, and yet some people get away with it better than others... :?

Kind of feel for Fraser, this is embarrassing. Atleast for those who create their own ideas.
I've on read Telepathy through a touch, on Visions (to make it short) He freely revealed it. Don't know why, but I personally lived it. I seriously considered to veer a different way with my effects when I saw the method.

Dont feel for Fraser. He clearly knows this is not groundbreaking and unfortunately this really highlights the conning nature of the magic world.
There is plenty of things I personally could release, but knowing that they are not strong, workable and relevant complete tricks I never would.

There is no harm is releasing small flourishes, or mentalism ideas but dont tell the community its ground breaking and workable. And price it to reflect what it is. In this case, with 'stuck to the floor', price it at 20p for the cost of the ink, for that is all this utter pile of crud is worth.

On a more positive note, this is a brilliant thing that emagic supply are doing.

Talk about raisning a post from the dead. Of course, 2008 does kind of feel like yesterday rather than 5 years ago.
