I assume the magician has to be Robert Harbin as he's the only one who seems to fit the bill, especially as David Nixon used his apparatus for his first TV appearance as a result of Harbin's exposure!

Vic

back soon . . . . .

Think he had a card trick which was called 'the fugitive' - this would tie in with Scott James Brinegar I reckon.

Nope. Warm, but not too warm.

I've got this one purely by using a bit of lateral thinking.

And I made sure that Google, MSN and the likes can't give a STRAIGHT or QUICK answer... you gotta work at this one.

Just to find Harbin - who happens to be my hero - with a card is an event in itself!

Wow Siege - really good one this - off for a tranquiliser :-)

Back shortly,

John Wade comes to mind as having been on BBC bt can't even find references to him anywhere so have to step back a bit I reckon.

Well, let's just say his debut *show* was 1953. That was his first TV show appearance.

One of his more famous moments was when he took the whole country by storm by performing a huge telekenisis stunt—and people still remember it to this day.

He wasn't a 'hokey' mentalist—considering the era. He actually put his feats of mindpower down to psychological manipulation rather than any real form of ESP or mindreading—which was to pave the way for mentalism becoming more credible.

His career blossomed in the 50s/60s, but he later retired from magic to become an artist...

TOO MANY CLUES!

Aha - that's what I needed regarding the mentalism and the telekenisis helps - perhaps too much, but then again, perhaps not!

Thanks Siege,

V

I believe I have the name which, if I'm right has a card connection, I believe I have the image; and I have some dope on JSB - b*ggered if I can find a link though! (Unless JSB was a member of Whites, the RAC and the MCC or similar?)

Mandrake...

I can put you out of your misery with the Guessing game if you want...

But I think I've found a good 'un, and it's nice to watch you all suffer.

:D

Siege,

Don't stop now - I'm beginning to hate it! :-)

The RAC and MCC has now completely thrown me - going back to square one,

N0, no, no - not just yet, still prodding the reluctant brain cell to try and get it sorted (ouch, aaargh!).
(You mean you've never heard of Mandrake the Masochist?)

The RAC and MCC has now completely thrown me
That's just me being vague, etherial and enigmantic. Or wrong.

Well done!

It's not hard, because all the clues are there! The difficult bit is to link the two puzzles!

I will give you ANOTHER hint:
Don't rely on Google's image search or just a plain Google search of the TWO ELEMENTS TOGETHER... you will have to mine into the magician's history to find the right photo.

I told you, I didn't want you to all solve this one as easy as hitting 'Search' :D
