If she is a Harry Potter fan (and who isn't these days?) she might like doing some Wizard magic. Her friends will certainly think it's "cool."

A good trick for younger magicians to get into is the prediction board.

This trick has three flaps under which predicitions (can be whiteboard or traditionally slate/blackboard material) are made by the magician and three visible areas for the audience member to put their marks on.

My 10 year old uses this well,

I had a Paul Daniels marketed Mental Epic Board (though can't recall what he called it) when I was about 12 and had no trouble using it. I'd probably have been OK at 10, but 8...maybe.

You could do a phychic looking effect with IT.

I've tried it with my eight yeasr old (have house full - all ages all sizes - nearly all girls ;-) aaargh!).

She had no difficulty with the trick and the patter, whilst difficult at first, very soon changed to be her own and it works well with her perrs - they all go quiet and wonder how she's done it - got her a Brownie badge anyway,
