DMC PRESENTS... CARD SHARK

Postby daleshrimpton » May 23rd, '13, 19:00

Something well worth watching if you can, Is Drummond Money Coults series, Card Shark which is coming to a screen near you very soon.
It covers the history and Characters of magic, and delves into the seedy underbelly of the gambling world, where many of magic's more interesting characters dwelled.

To whet the apetite, have a look at the trailer.

It looks very exciting!!

To start with I thought it was an advert for Easyjet! Sorry tp say this looks like many other 'street magic' shows where the focus is on the skills of, or danger to, the performer instead of on the magic and entertainment - I hope I'm proved wrong. By the way, wasn't this the same guy who nearly got torn in two when a stunt went wrong last year?

Turned off haflway through - his voice grated on me and I can't imagine enjoying watching him regardless of skill level. Big kudos to Phill Smiff though ;)

Guys, this is really important. Watch the show, and then give seriously good feedback to the Chanel. Tell them you loved it, even if you didn't. ( Although you will, trust me) because that way, you get to see more.. LOTS more. :)

One small point has been put to me by PM as the author wishes to remain anonymous: If someone didn't enjoy it why would they want to see more?

Can I suggest viewers approach this programme, as we should with all others and that's with an open mind and then, if appropriate, give an honest and courteous review?

There were a couple of secrets revealed moments, but most of the show was good. Although all I could picture during his voice overs was Bear Grylls!

I thought it was thoroughly entertaining.

Hi All -

Thank you for the thoughts.

For those that missed it - there's a copy on YouTube, but maybe not for long: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fr-vUnO6O8w

It was our first attempt at attempting something a little bit more developed than the usual magic format, going beyond just tricks into something a little richer and more detailed. Certainly a learning curve - and open to all ideas and thoughts on the show. Awaiting confirmation on the series - but hopefully much, much more to come.

I very much enjoyed it. Making a 45 minute / hour long program on card magic is a tall order, which is why I think Ben Earl didn't even try it. For a chap like me who only really uses cards though, that episode was right up my street. Despite that, my favourite effect was with the ring in the boxes because you could see that the spectators were genuinely moved by it. I hope there's more episodes to come.
