Hello, I need some help finding the correct "thread" to use, I have "Heartstrings" and the DVD suggested using crochet string because it gives a "snap" when you break it, I picked up some crochet string at Wallmart and tried it damn near cut my fingers, did not make a snap, the only sound there was a lot of swearing, any ideas??? the snap on the video was great, how ever I want something that I can break HELP

First, is it a pure cotton thread, and not a cheap synthetic or a mix?

Second, what gauge is it? As I understand it, the higher the number, the thinner the thread. Is yours size 10 thread, by any chance? Maybe you need something like a 20 or even finer.

Yeah pure 100% cotton thread works perfectly as said by Wayne houchinin in his DVD 'thread'. I had to resort to the Internet to get this though as couldn't find any of this particular thread in any shops by me .

If you're talking about regular thickness thread you could try Chadwicks mending thread if you can still get it (I haven't seen any on sale for years). Basting or tacking thread can also be used http://www.sewessential.co.uk/CategoryM ... 100&page=1

Chadwicks is available from House of Fraser and associated stores.

Use the thread that they use in cross stitch. T'is the best.

In Geoffrey Durhams book (Professional Secrets) he recommends Chadwick's Darning Thread, i strongly advise reading Geoffrey's writing on the subject
