I agree. I think he should indeed be named. I think I would like to know who to keep off my facebook page.

Hi Guys,

Resolution kind of achieved.

I did a bit of snooping as i had some downtime in my hotel room last night and looked on his profile.

His name is Aaron Mitchell by the way, a complete unknown as far as I can see based in Portsmouth (went to school there) /Southampton (Solent uni student) although my friends at PDMC and AWS have never heard of him so he doesn't move in our circles!

Here is the start of what happened, in 8 steps;

1. Snooped his profile
2. Notice a message he sent to his mum saying happy birthday.
3. Screenshotted the messages he and I sent back and forth
4. uploaded the screenshot to fb titled 'How to be a terrible person 101'
5. Tagged him, his mother, and 2 of his close friends that I discovered from snooping (this was actually difficult as i was not friends with them, I had to ask mutual friend to do this).
6. received furious pm from Aaron calling me an alphabet of obscenities, and demanding immediate removal of pic.
7. Replied with a polite 'no' and advised that he should have be aware that you cannot behave like this blah blah grown up lecture (zzzZZ)
8. Went out to do my gig....

And so I have to get in the zone and perform and was out of the hotel room for approx 1h 15 minutes and I returned to loads of inbox messages/notifications/friend requests.

I saw the following;
a) 170+ likes
b) 54 comments (all condeming AM including his MUM!
c) an inbox full of more obscenities from AM and then one solitary message from his mum which I have copied and paster here;

Hi shuffleshuffle
i am Aarons mother and i would like to apologies for his behaviour to you i kno this is not good but he is a good lad really and is just trying his best to get somewhere in the world. i hope you can forgive him. thanks ___her name___

To which I replied;

Hi "so and so",

Whilst I appreciate your message, your son is currently filling my inbox with obscenities, some of which are incredibly creative and all of which are utterly disgusting.

I am glad that you do not have a problem with me uploading the image displaying his actions, because I am currently putting together another image to follow the last, which is approximately 7 or 8 times longer and contains his latest collection of foul personal attacks on me (and my family for that matter).

I like to think that I am an understanding and fair person but I will not tolerate this continual stream of abuse.

I suggest you speak with your son.

And she did speak with Aaron because i received an PM which I cannot post due to TM rules... essentially saying how dare you talk to my mother, and including a death threat.

I forwarded this to his mother simply saying 'example 1 of 60'

After a half an hour break i received an pm from Aaron with just the word 'Sorry'.

To which I replied;

"Not good enough - I'm going to post the rest of your messages unless you can tell me exactly what you did was unacceptable and offer me a proper and considered apology.
Also, I am posting about this on the biggest magic forum in england and everyone will know your name. Being a terrible person does not get you anywhere, and I like to think that underneath all your
desperate desire to be an alpha male, there is probably a nice guy that just took something too far. If you really want to be a good person just man up and apologise properly."

I sent a message to his mum telling her that he just said 'sorry' and thanking her for the help. I still feel really bad about getting her involved and wish I had not done this...

Aaron has not replied since (this ended at approx 10pm last night) which is why I have posted his name here.

I have not taken any further action today (the only free time i've had i just used typing this up..)

Ahhhhh fun. If anyone wants to insult some one send me a PM. I have a fantastic list.

Even more embarassing for him is the fact that he is 20 years old...

Aaah! Only 20 years old. That explains it. I was equally as evil at that age and possibly worse. Of course that was before I became a holy psychic reverend man of the cloth and of course nowadays I am a very saintly person.

But Aaron has been very wicked indeed. Still, there is a way he can gain absolution for his misdeeds. I suggest he comes on here and makes a big apology and confesses his sins and begs forgiveness. He can put it down to the folly of youth. After all young people are supposed to be stupid. He will then be given absolution and love from talk magic especially from the shuffling $175 per hour master magician who has now exacted revenge in a most delightful manner.

He had better be good though otherwise we will tell his mother.

It is far better to admit wrongdoing even though it takes quite a bit of courage. I once had a young magician steal from me. I KNEW he did and he knew that I knew. But I am a very forgiving person. All he had to do was admit it and I would have granted him absolution and dropped the matter. But he continues to deny it even as the years have gone by. And it has done him no good at all. I still tell everyone about it and his name is mud.

The only mistake I made was not telling his mother.

I do charge that fee on average, and even if I don't, which I am happy for you to believe as it is irrelevant, the point of that post was to create a laughably huge figure in response to your post regarding your minimum wage comment;

"Close up magician/merchandise assistant"? That made me laugh! It is just a fancy way of saying "magic pitchman". And I get a vibe of minimum wage. "

Yes, but 175 pounds an hour is not a laughably huge figure. That is why I believe you. The bit that puzzles me however is when you say "per hour". And I think you said 8 hour day. Alas I am not clear as to what type of booking this would be. An 8 hour show sounds terribly long even for a master magician. Of course you may perhaps be a mentalist and that would account for the very long performance. Mentalists do get a trifle long winded and that does prolong the show.

How dare you insult mentalists. My 3 hour show is an absolute boon. I need at least 40 minutes for the Knights Tour!

I have actually seen three hour shows of hypnotism with an intermission. And they were good ones. I do a mere 90 minutes with no intermission.

I have seen Max Maven do a two hour show which felt like 5 hours. And he only did 6 tricks in that two hours. Of course he is an American performer and they are terribly long winded. I far prefer Al Koran who I saw on television do 4 tricks in 8 minutes.

Going a bit further off track, see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgZi5RYxYTw where there are 15 illusions in 5 minutes.

I think Horace Goldin also used to do 15 tricks in 5 minutes. Or something like that. He was known for his lightning fast speed.

Hi Shuffleshuffle.

Well done on how you handled the situation. You got a back down from the company and taught him a lesson. If I was you I would walk away now. You have won the fight (magnificently). Anything more might be gratuitous. Top job.
