A prop - a pesky insect buzzing around me.

Grateful for some guidance where a source could be. Not to sure if this prop exists.

Some years ago I watched a gent on stage, and buzzing around him was a shiny insect, say moth size. The gent, obviously controlling the flight path of the insect, began swiping at it and after a few karate type lunges etc the insect hit the floor with a bang. The gent then stamped on the insect, like in 4/4 time, and then broke into a sad song...
Thanks

There is a floating butterfly for sale on Dave Bonsall's website - a similar effect I think.

You can get a waltzing matilda which is a silk that you easily make float around and while you try to grasp it it always jumps out of your grasp. You can easily change out the silk for a small insect like thing. and perform the same routine. The sound should be easy enough. There are plenty of noise makers on the market many that go bang. Or use really good timing and put it in your music.

This is not overly good for close up. While using the silk you could get away with Semi close up because a bright colour silk really draws the eye from the gimmick. but in a parlour or stage setting it would probably work. And if not you have the Waltzing Matilda at your disposal with is a wonderful time tested classic in itself.
