Hi from Washington DC

Hello one and all.

It’s been about 18 years since I used too actively practice magic.
I practiced it for about 2 years, never professionally though (meaning no kids parties or paid gigs) but I did practice it for a much more primal reason...meet girls at parties and clubs. As I said...it’s been 18 years, so you can see how that was working for me.

Recently, I have been dusting off the old fingers for an all new audience...my 4 year old son and his friends, and I'm enjoying the craft much more then I ever did 18 years ago. Before it was a means to an end (literally )

Maybe its a parent thing, but the wonder and amazement I see in my sons eyes is such a great payoff...

My small repertoire will only last me so long with a group of 4 year olds, so I'll be doing some research.

Coins and Cards were my preference way back when, although my fingers don't flick like they used too, its like a bike...right? :)just a little relearning. Hopefully

Anyway, I tend to be a lurker more then a poster in forums,
Like they say " The trouble about talking about things you don't understand is you don't know when your finished"

SO I'll leave most posting for others more qualified opinions.

Hi and welcome! By all means lurk and read, there's no obligation to post anything here but, if you feel the urge to say anything, don't hold back!

By the sound of things, you’ve moved on from your initial interest in magic for very understandable purposes (meeting girls is a very, very understandable reason - I only wish it still worked!) and have discovered one of the best reasons to continue – the wonderment you see in others when you perform. It just shows that real magic is not in the props or the magician’s hands, it’s in the mind of the spectators.
