Roughing Stick, Spray or Fluid

Postby sibex » Feb 15th, '14, 17:55

Hi All,

just after your thoughts on whether you prefer the stick, the fluid or a spray for creating your own ID or refreshing an old one.

Which have you used and which do you prefer?

Have you used any alternatives to the 'official' spray/fluid, and if so have they been any good?

Many thanks in advance.

Simon.

Spray is by far the easiest to use and gives the best results. Grab a can of Testor's Dull Cote, it's exactly the same stuff as you'll get from the magic shops but for about half the price.

Fluid is just a no for home use right from the start, just too fiddly

Spray i agree gives the best results however you need a sensible space to spray it in and it takes some time to dry

Easy Rough is easy to apply and roughs cards instantly, however it can leave a bit of visible residue on the cards, this isn't a bit issue and it's not like any spectator will ever notice though

On that note, there's a new roughing stick coming out soon that reduces the visible residue issue
Watch this space!

Great stuff. Thanks Lawrence. Would be interested in the stick. There is one in the market now, I know, but to be honest it seems a bit pricey compared to the sprays that one could get hold of if we lived in the States.

Plenty of sprays available in the UK too ;)

Testors Dullcote 1260T is my personal preference but pretty much anything with "clear matt varnish spray" on it from a hobby shop will do the job

A tin of spray is cheaper but the postage is high as it can't go through royal mail, so you end up spending the same as you would on a stick.

I average 10 decks out of one can, I've no idea how many decks an easy rough stick can do as I always lose it before it runs out.
Certainly a lot more than 10 though

I've got some easy rough in stock if you're interested
