Uday Combo Cups and Balls

Postby sibex » Feb 25th, '14, 11:06

Hi All,

I've had a look through and the last reference I can find in the forum to this is back in 2008.

I wondered what people thought of the Combo Cups and Balls, from a quality point of view. I am after a first set and the Aluminium set are only about a tenner. I would be interested to know what people who have recently bought them think or whether there are any other suggestions you all may have.
I really don't want to spend a lot at the moment but also don't want to waste money on cheap tat. Obviously, I know it goes without saying that you get what you pay for.
The other option would of course be to look for a good second hand set but not sure where to look for them either.

Thanks in advance.

I have found that with Uday, you said it exactly. You get what you pay for. However on the whole their products are not horrible. Keep in mind for cups and balls you can perform with paper cups and balled up napkins. For a combo set there is a gimmick involved so quality does count. Morrissey makes a good set that is not expensive can be found on ebay and most magic shops. Always keep in mind it is the performance and not the cup. Done correctly the audience never really gets too, or wants too look at the cups. They are just cups.

Many thanks for that. As you rightly say, of course, it is all in the presentation. What I was really thinking was whether the Uday product would stand up to being used all the time or would get dented or out of shape etc. The gimmick was also a small concern. However, I will have a shufty for the Morrisey ones as well.
Thanks again for your reply, I really appreciate it.

I've got the copper version of the combo set and it has survived pretty well from being dumped in bags, examined by children etc.

I have an Uday chop cup. I was actually impressed how well balanced the gimmickw was. Works really well. Its showing signs of wear now but I have used it a lot. For the price I was actually quite impressed. I am thinking of upgrading now but only because I was different final loads and a flat bottomed cup.
