Got myself a copy of lewis from ebay for a fiver and have never ever regretted that.
The story of travels from South Africa and the beginnings are great and I learnt a lot from the book in terms of hoistory, magic and pure enjoyment - a very readable book and (again, my opinion) a must for the bookshelf,
Vic

Hi Vic,
Greetings! Thanks for your welcome. Your suggestions regarding a Harbin Fan Club, what a marvellous idea!

Vic, how do we go about setting one up? Do we have to approach the powers that be! I'm sure that there will be bags of enthusiasm from all Harbiners! (or should that be Harbingers?).
Hear from you soon, hopefully.
Lester

One of my Father's Day prezzies this year was a used but original copy of Robert Harbin's How To Be A Wizard, publication date is 1957 so somewhat more recent that those mentioned above but still full of interesting routines and tricks. It's written on the basis that only boys would be interested in magic so is worded a little awkwardly at times and he very cleverly refers to well known illusions then says he can't reveal how they were done but goes on to describe in great detail how to do something vaguely similar but not via the the same methods.
No idea what the original price would have been but the back cover has an advertisement for another one of his books, Paper Magic - The Art of Paper Folding (published by the same firm the year before), and that's priced at 10/6 in old money (52.1/2p).
