Having spent the last 15yrs performing in my local pubs and restaurants I have to say that one of the strongest effects I perform is Card Warp, which is my perfect usage of old cards I've had people bring the torn cards back to me weeks later and ask for me to repeat it.

Most of the time the torn bits are taken away, its an awesome effect, tomorrow I have to make some more

This effect has only been beaten recently by floating notes with Loops. If you don't use Card Warp, use it.

I use fanning powder when I open a new deck. Makes them perfect for fanning. Funnily enough, I don't really use it for old decks... I tend to just use old decks for cuts or maybe practice my Vertigo Hackisack hehe.

As an alternative point of view from my remarks, some time ago I performed a routine developed by long time TM member Evie Harris, the background was magic from childhood, and this routine involved the use of children's 'snap' playing cards. These cards were notorious for sticking together so I did the biz with the Johnson's Baby Talc. The first time I performed the routine one of the volunteers involved said how lovely the routine was and, as an unexpected bonus, the aroma of talc took her back to when her children were very young - she was quite emotional over it.

I've used Baby Powder successfully on old cards, and on matte business cards too. You need to use a tiny amount.

why just switch to another beand new deck? you can pay 1,5 euros for a deck of seconds, 2,5€ for a standard, and 3€ for phoenix or tally-ho.
and if you want to use fanning powder, just a bit, but put it on the deck as soon as you open a new box of cards.
