I've missed this place recently, and I'm just taking five mins to chill out and relax in a non magical way to say that I just got a new ferret!

Oh yes, I can get crazier but I think it's the craziest thing I've done to date. Consequently 'Chloe' my new SPCA rescue furry thing is taking a lot of my time up. She's a right cutie and pretty much generally friendly but if you've ever tried to ferret proof a place like mine so your new ferret can run about and not get bored and have some proper play time which they need, you'd know it's a hard task. But you won't so you'll have to take my word

I had a few great reviews to write as I just got a couple of great dvds, well I say 'just' but infact I mean a while ago and I hope they haven't been written up already as I was looking forward to that! So yea, having a ferret is like having a kid. Yikes, didnt realise that truly and properly before I went to pick her up. But hey, I'm going to teach her to do some magic once we're a bit more settled in

Is this your first ferret? I've wanted one for ages, what is the upkeep like?

Yea it's my first ever ferret, I want to tell you she's a cutie but ....ok she is. It's jut my hand is a bit sore...No lack of card shuffling ability but ya know...I stress this is purely from my learning what she's like and her getting to know mer and her boundries, and my trying to get her used to a harness... let's face it, ferret and harness don't really strike a chord in anyone's mind, least of all the ferrets haha, butthey get used to it apparently.

The upkeep is like havng a dog I'd guess, my sis having had a labradore but I'm a cat man myself. They're small, can get into any crevice you like and are curious and smart as hell. They need lots of excersise and stimulation of they become bored and .... nippy! So I'm having a time making my place more ferret friendly so she can run about in a larger space. She's 1 year old and apparently very goon natured so I got lucky there given the rescue situation. I'd say if you want one, as I had for years too but never got round to it, think about dedication to a bit of training, just like getting a puppy, and if you live in a brick house with a rom you can use to let your ferret run around and play then go for it! No time liek the present. They are awesome playmates given time and attention. This is my fourth day of 'first ferret ownership' so I'm not reall the one to dish ourt a bundle of gold dust advice but hey, I love her to bits

I wouldn't say the upkeep of a ferret and a dog are similiar. They both need food shelter and attention. But I think if you were too look after my 100 pounds of Great Pyraneese you may re-think your comparison. Not that one is more difficult than the other, just different. I'm just happy the dog and my five cats get along. Introducing a ferret into the mix would be an issue. But I love them all.

If you have cats and ferrets, you don't need a television - you'll have all the entertainment that you could ever want. Ferrets make wonderful pets. I had a ferret for many years and he supplied me with loving companionship. His name was Grog. He taught me never to go barefoot in the house. The only downside to having a ferret as a pet is their odor, but if you enjoy their company, as did I, then this is only a very small downside, indeed.

Inded I heartily concur, I never needed tv in the first place but keeping little Chloe comfy and entertained just reinforces that so to speak She's just settling in now and I may finally find time to write those reviews I've been meaning to for ages. Tho I'd be surprised if someone else hansn't already. Blows Automata out the water tho in my oppinion, at the risk of talking magic in an illegal area Somebody mod me quick.

As for the ferre odour being a downside, I guess that's a matter of taste, and quantity haha. I can imagine it getting over powering with a fleet of the little beasts but mine smells distinctly sweet with a heavy musk, the sort of thing you'd pay a fortune for in some expencive 'posh hippy shop' on the insense rack
