Oz Pearlman's Born to Perform Card Magic

Postby Rushie » Jun 15th, '05, 10:19

Hello everyone

Does anyone know of a British website that sells Oz Pearlman's DVD? The 3 websites I use don't have it in stock at the moment. I have seen it on Penguin Magic after following a link, but I would rather use a UK based website to buy stuff

Thanks

I assume you know that Penguin has a UK site now?

http://www.penguinmagic.com/europe

Other than that you haven't stated the sites you have checked making it difficult to know which ones you may have missed.

Sorry about leaving out the sites I use. I was unsure about rules on advertising. I use emagictricks, Magicbox and Magic Tricks.co.uk. I will look at Penguin Europe, are they OK? I have read posts from people who were not happy with the service or some of the items they sell

They sell alot of magicmakers stuff, which are on the whole copies of originals, most online sellers sell at least some copies but penguin seem to sell a lot more.
There service is ok, it's not as good as magicbox for example but i've alays found it acceptable.

I have just placed my first order with Penguin Europe. It is only for one item. Just trying them out for now.

I will keep you posted as to how I find the service.

The few orders I've placed with them have been handled very efficiently and with items such as DVDs from Oz, there would be no ethical queries - he's their main man!

I like Penguin because:
(a) It's demos
(b) It's instructional videos with many tricks
(c) It's cheap!! (I just checked out Twilight Angels. It's £9.78 on MagicBox and it's £6.99 on Penguin Magic!)
(d) Free delivery!

I only resort to other sites when Penguin doesn't sell that particular item.

Don't be fooled by the Penguin demo videos and I rarely buy on the strength of their videos alone. Some can look good but when they arrive, you will know that you just won't use it in your routine.

Places like magic box are also real shops whereas Penguin are a warehouse. You can pick up the phone and at magic box you can speak to a real live person  (I've heard that you're more likely to pass away whilst waiting for Penguin to answer the phone  )

You'll find that shops generally only take in the tricks that have a much better chance of selling as they can't afford to have too much stock hanging around and they have to sell over the counter as well as by post. In most cases I'll try to visit a shop and pay a bit extra having seen the demo in the flesh. I accept that this is not always possible for everyone but there you go.

Recieved my trick this morning just three days after placing the order. The item was well packaged and also came with a printed catalogue and a DVD demo catalogue. :D

The only gripe that I have is that there was no contact from Penguin to let me know that my payment had been recieved or that my item had been shipped. This may just be me being picky but I just see it as common courtesy.
Maybe this is the downfall of dealing with a warehouse.
Saved myself a few quid on a JB original though. :D

No, got nothing from them.

I did check on my Penguin account order history and it said there when it was being processed then shipped.

I will have to see if I get any response from my next order. I can see a serious case of CUPS setting in. :!:
