Kings Rising?

Postby Magicman99 » Nov 23rd, '03, 22:34

I was wondering what Kings Rising is. I know it is a levitation, but is it just the balducci method? :? :?:

The Balducci and Kings Rising are two completely different levitation effects although both fairly easy to learn.

Theres also a stronger version of Kings rising called NeoRise.

Balducci is MUCH easier than King Rising. King Rising needs a setup as well, however if pulled off is just jaw dropping. Each have thier positives and negatives. Choose which wouldnt bother you much.

There is no best levitation out there. Every effect has its pros and cons. King Rising is good but you have to watch out for the angles. However if you realy practice it and learn how to master it, you will do just fine.
It takes confidence to effects like these. If you are really nervous then you have propably not practiced enough. This is not a push button effect.

Neo Rise is also good. Many people would dissagree with me on that part. I've gotten great reaction and that what I want. It works well. So in my opinion, its good.

How could I forget. Andrew Mayne has a booklet out on levitations. Its called Touching Sky. It teaches you 6 diffrent ways of levitating. Some of the levitations taught can only be done on stage. Broom Flight is the best levitation in the booklet. You learn how to float like Harry Potter.

Sorry but there's no such thing as 'best', it all depends on what you want to do, the audience, and the place where the effect is performed. Have a look at http://www.levitation.org/king-rising-levitation.htm for an indication of KR and what it looks like.

The Kings Rising seems quite simmler to the Balducci Levitation to me. I have both but have never performed the KR. It just doesn't seem all that great. Although most people tend to already know the B levitation even before you use it, so the element of surprise is in KR. However you must be wearing long pants to perform the KR or its completely obvious to see what their doing. Both require the spectators to stare down at your feet for it to work. One time I peformed the B levitaion on stage just to see if it would work, but because the audiance was four feet lower than the stage it was clear how it was done (at least the left side of the crowd were amazed).

Final advice - Buy it if your a hard magitian, but definatly not if your just playing for friends and so forth (its expensive).
