Here's the thing about magic: no matter how bad it is, or how possibly irritating it can be to watch, it always draws me back.
I'm 24 and have been dabbling with cards and magic for as long as I can remember. I went away to university 4 years ago though, and kind of let my skill set fall away -- "other" things became more important. I still have a trunk full of gimmicks, decks, books; but the only crowd I'm currently comfortable performing in front of is a drunken group of my peers. Perhaps you would best call me a formerly Skilled Amateur ... FSA.
Right. So I see the Criss Angel guy (this is where the 'guilty' comes in), and it just makes me cringe really. Why is magic so painfully nerdy? At any rate, my desire to punch a hole through my television set has forced me back to my craft. Rewatching my McBride and Ammar videos. Remembering what a LeClair animator is.
At any rate ... Hello, and does anyone have tips for beginning again? A born again beginner?
