DOes anyone know any impromptu, very little setup or easy tricks that are on Penguin. I am thinking of buying two or three tricks from there and cannot make up my mind.

On the Spot by Greg Wilson is quite good.

Not DVDs but a trick. I am already getting Born to Perform but thanks anyways.

Ahh just saw a demo of On the Spot it does look really good. Does anyone have and if so a review would be nice. Couldnt find it trough search...

Would anyone reccomend it for a beginner? If so I might get it after I get Born to Perform

Always carry a snide deck of bikes? Learn some coin gags? Real impromptu, to me, is about the contents of the average pub-goer's pocket.

On the other hand a DVD would be ok as long as it has a good teacher and is for a beginner. In a review of On the Spot, it said that Greg WIlson wasnt that of a good teacher...

I don't own Born to Perform, however I can say that there's a good chance that a lot of effects on the DVD will be impromptu - just buy yourself a pack of cards from your nearest shop and wait for the DVD to arrive.

You don't have to have everything NOW.

Actually, I would say that Greg is a great teacher - but that's just my opinion!

Personally, I would order Born To Perform and just see what you think of the effects before you go for some more tricks...

I also think Greg Wilson is a bad teacher.
He sort of asumes you know how to do what he's teaching you already, so doesn't go through it in much detail. For example, when he is teaching the move that makes the cap of the pen disappear by tapping it (sorry, can't remember what it's called) he doesn't explain it at all. I ended up playing the DVD over and over in slow motion, until I eventually got it.
It's mainly for this reason that I wouldn't recommend it for a beginner.
Also, many of the effects require LOADS of 'audience management' and experience with an audience.
I would say definitely get Born to Perform, leave On the Spot for another day.

Micheal Ammars Icebreakers has lots of impromptu magic. Ideal for the beginner He is among the best teachers of magic out there.

HOw about Jay Sankey, and his dvd 45 with Jay Sankey???

Tom Mullica is regarded as one of the best for impromptu magic. You can get his stuff here:

Even if you don't decide to buy, at least watch the previews.

Personally I always make sure I have a deck of Bikes in my pocket, and more often than not, I have my ID in the other pocket. Always good for winning a bit of money down the pub from your mates.
