I am so excited about the Ghost deck. They look great. The AoS is droool worthy!

PS. On topic, I don't have a black deck. I agree with Kati's comment that it should be printed on black stock. It's not THAT hard. I mean even TIPPEX shows up on black card! Surely they can sort it out...

Symtal - yes they CAN be printed on black stock, but it's too costly

To print on black stock would mean they would have to PRINT with white ink - which is INCREDIBLY expensive (yes, it's more expensive than process colors and spot colors). In order to make a profit, they would have to raise the prices of the decks. As you already know, they're pretty high, already. So while it's possible, it's just not practical.

Mark - I have been to that site a bunch of times. Here's another site with some great history on card designs. It has a TON of the old Bicycle backs. Check it out for your collection!

In all fairness, I can buy a tub of tippex for a quid. I'm sure it wouldn't be THAT hard to make a permanent type...

The increase in cost? A SMALL price to pay for cards that I don't have to touch up with a sharpie!

Two points:

One is that I really don't see white ink being any more expensive than any other color. I mean, all it is is a quick-drying liquid with coloring added - if you add a white color then it'll be white!

EDIT: I was wrong . See this site for clarification but the gist is that most inks are transparent and even though opaque white ink is available, it is easy to muddy and requires several applications. So please ignore this answer :D.

Can't wait for the Ghost deck though!

Two is that I, and I'm sure many other people, would be willing to pay more for a Tiger deck printed on Black stock.

I was aimlessly browsing today and came across tiger back cards and ghost cards on ellusionist so thought I'd search here to see what people make of them.
Seems like tiger backs aren't as popular as I'd expected... I really like the fact they stand out and I think if you were to perform with them in the right style (check out the ellusionist demo for them here ) that their use over standard bikes would be enough to add to the impact of your routine. I like the look of some of the gimmick cards too (the smeared card, the AoS and the voodoo guy in particular) though I have to admit that I think the tiger itself looks altogether a bit daft! Prices are a bit off putting too!!
Ghost cards got me excited though! Whoever else said the AoS was droolworthy, I totally agree! One thing I noticed was that all the pips seem to be black apart from the small ones on the corners of red cards. Does anyone else think this might be a bit of a problem for less observant spectators (eg. mistaking the black hearts for spades)?

Ok, i recently bought a deck of Tigers, primarily for the reason that i could buy them! Im trying to collect all the different decks just to know that i have a very decent collection of cards!

But for normally everyday magic tricks, normal red or blue bikes (sometimes the green or black ones) work just as well. They are really easy to come by, and so are the gaff cards if you ever need one! They also look less dodgy than those for the tiger decks.

Ok, im still not sure what this ghost deck looks like.....from what you have been saying, i already want one, and probably will get one even if they turn out to be bad! But i have looked on the ellusionist website and i cant find it anywhere! Maybe im just blind! How much are these cards going to be selling for? Im a poor lowly student and can only afford a deck every so often! Seriously......you should see an old (About 7months) pack of red back bikes ive got!

Having bought a Tiger deck myself recently, I have to say I think they look extremely cool. They are slick to look at and quite decent to handle. However, I came across one major problem with them (aside from the fact that yes, they draw attention to themselves)...very often the people I am doing tricks on won't look at their cards properly and get confused between hearts and spades! Anyone else found this? It gets to be a problem performing magic when you find your spectators can never quite remember their card!

The cards I bought are white-pipped, and it has occurred to me that the red-pipped ones will be easier to use in a performance...can anyone comment on that? And are the red-pipped ones ALL red-pipped? Or is it just the hearts and diamonds that are red, and the spades and clubs white?

A "magician" (I put it in quotation marks because he revealed to me that he didn't actually know any tricks!) I met last week told me he uses his Tigers for flourishes, but I'm not really into flourishes and don't really want to get into them because I want to make a deck of cards look cool. Does anyone know any tricks which they have found particularly effective using Tigers?

And as an aside, I think everyone with the white-pipped Tigers should use them in performing some of their sign-the-card tricks. Buy a silver and gold-coloured pen and get your spectator to sign the face of the card with them...It makes the cards look even cooler!!

THe red pipped cards- only hearts and diamonds are red, while spades and clubs are white. So it is better to buy those, for less confusion.

Ah... what jimbothegreatest says about the "all white pipped" tigers causing confusion makes me think that ghost cards might present a similar problem. You can see the cards in more detail on the mini deck preview page which is linked to on the ghost card preview page (linked to above).
Or does anyone think that the small red pips might help make a difference?
