I can cope with that, but imagine being booked for a kids party on the same day as the party, with a promise of 20 children being there and when you turn up only 4 kids are there!

Just been looking at your site, does charging kids shows by the number of guests have a benefit or erm, the opposite of benefit (cant think right now, lol) as opposed to charging for the length of party?

All that detail is due to be taken down as i do not do children's parties anymore , why i used to do it like that is that i costs more to have a larger number of children (balloons, party bags etc) and less for smaller amounts.

same here, kids parties can cost the earth in giveaways so need to be factered in.
steven i too have quit childrens magic because of the attitudes of kids thease days and parents.

that and the fact i cant drive anymore and have dificulty holding a change bag but that was on the cards anyway at some point.

its the same if your doing a disco, you come prepared to do hours of bob the builder and get told they want some white rapper with a foul mouth.

i found some parents had awful attitude and some were aggressive for no reason.

yep and demanding a refund, i just reminded them that it states in the contract security is the perview of the hirer not me and all damages both personal or eguipment must be paid for by them.
that usualy shuts them up.

some of mine would not sign a contract

if they won't sign then there suspisious and i won't work for them.
i will give them several alternative people who don't carry public liability or clearence to work with kids or special needs.

i did a charity gig in a bad area for my brother, i put up with hte queer and gay slurs afterall i was wearing a pink shirt and the kids arn't known for there intelegence being third generation benefit erm professionals but when they started throwing stuff at me i just stopped the music, packed up and whent home, they lost out because i would not come the next time they phoned to booked me.... seems they could not get anyone in the area to do a party, iv'e no idea why.

A few years back we did a family disco where there were a lot of kids of about 6 to 10 years of age and things were going fine until one (drunken) parent asked if we would play Smokie's 'Living Next Door to Alice' but the one with Roy Chubby Brown's four letter additions. I explained that we couldn't play it as there were so many kids about and the guy got very angry and resorted to repeatedly using the same adjective himself whilst telling me that we weren't going to get paid unless we played what he wanted. We just turned everything off in mid record and started to pack up then several of the other family members came over to apologise and dragged the guy away. Having sorted it and carried on there were no other incidents but it was perhaps the least favourite booking we ever did. Thinking about it perhaps I should have just said we didn’t have that version and left it at that!

thats why i always say at the begining of the show, soposedly to the kids, iv'e already been paid so any nonsense and i pack up and go home.
usauly after iv'e said whats the diference between an idiot and a foool......a fool gets paid.

i also say if its not on the aproved list then it won't be played.

Well i did my final children's show today. Was expecting 40 children, ended up with 3 children coming. The booker let me leave after 40 minutes and still paid me for 1.5 hours.

So... you having a retirement party? I thought not.

Seriously though, are you looking to get rid of any of your stuff? Feelf ree to post it all in the 'for sale' section...
