Hi there

Postby trickyricky » Aug 10th, '05, 16:56

Hi, im Rich! Im from Birmingham in England and i've been interested in magic tricks for many years, but only started to learn and perform magic tricks about 8 months ago. I only really go for card tricks because i have large hands (Im 6'8") and find coins and other small items a lot harder to handle than cards!

Im currently working on a trick that i saw a clip of on the internet ( i cant remember the name, i will try and find it), but didnt buy because i figured out how to do it just from the video. When i have perfected it a bit more, and find a video camera, i will try and get a link to it on here.

Until then i will just be hanging around, adding my little bit of knowledge where it seems appropriate, and generally just enquiring about new sleight-of-hand moves, etc.

Anyway, hope you are all ok, and i'll see you around!

Rich

I don't know if it's more popular than in the US.

You guys certainly do it bigger than us. Look at Vegas, Sigfried and Roy type shows, David Copperfield, Jeff McBride always on tour, Lance Burton, etc... How often do we get magic tours and stuff here? Apart from Derren Brown recently, I can't remember.

OK, I live in London, so there are shows at The Magic Cavern, and a selection of magic shops, and one-off shows, but I don't know what it's like elsewhere. I know back home in Yorkshire there's not a lot.

It's on TV more over in the US too. I'm currently waiting for the Criss Angel Mindfreak shows to make their way over here. I reckon Channel 4 will snap them up.

Anyone else?

In both US and UK magic is popular compared to Sweden..hey, we don't even have 1 single magic shop (!), well, there is one, but you can only reach it via the webb and they have no rl shop :(

I guess the interweb has made magic more accessible to those people who enjoy it, but have difficulty getting there hands on the equipment.

In the UK, there's generally a magic shop or 2 in most of the major cities. I guess we're spoiled for choice sometimes.

Isn't the UK the home of the "legendary" Paul Daniels?

Indeed it is! Mr.D was born in Middlesbrough in the North East of the UK but now lives further South in Henley right on the banks of the River Thames. A bit too close to the river at times as it recently flooded and he's had to do quite a bit of rebuilding to avoid the same kind of damage if the river floods again.
