My name is Ken Cossitt, aka Father Juan Valdez. I'm a professional wrestler from Victoria, BC, Canada.

I've been fascinated with magic since I was a tot. I am also a practicing clown and juggler and dabble in puppetry. Really I just love to entertain people.

My first bought trick was "The Balducci Levitation" which I'm terrible at  , and I have a special fascination with card tricks. I own a Svengali deck (I know, but I'm a newbie...), a brainwave deck, and two card Monty. I can do a few simple plain deck tricks and simple fingertip vanishes, but my produces need work.

Mostly I'm interested in up close magic that I can incorporate into my wrestling shows, usually as I wander around and engage the crowd before the show and during intermissions. My dream is to have a cabinet in my living room, the one where you cut the assistant in three and slide the middle section out. Sorry I don't know the proper name for the illusion.

Anyway, I just thought I'd introduce myself to the forum and I look forward to pumping you all for as many hints and tips as I can get.

Good old British Columbia!!!!!!!!!! I am originally from Vernon.....never discount the svengali deck as only a newbie tool. I would consider myself to be a more advanced card worker, and I always have time to throw in an effect with the svengali.....it is only simple if you use it simple-mindedly! With experience, you will find it to still be useful as you get more advanced!

Enjoy the sight!

Juan,

The effect you desire is the Zig Zag Lady or Zig Zag Cabinet invented by Robert Hardin.

You can buy one of Hardin's books with all his work (if you can find one) or alternatively there are numerous people as always, selling pirate information

Hi, Jaun!

There was a Zig Zag Lady cabinet for sale in the classified ads on Magicweek (www.magicweek.co.uk) recently. Just for a fleeeting moment I thought of how great it would be to just have that at home and watch the faces of any visitors trying to figure out what the hell it was doing there!

Thank you all for the warm welcome! I've wrestled in Vernon a few times. Great scenery around there. Gotta love the Okanagan!

I practise most of my magic on children right now, and the Svengali deck always gets a great response. I'm looking forward to finding new and entertaining ways of presenting it.

I don't know if the magic world relates to the carny world the way wrestling does, but we have a term for such things, KAYFABE! In other words - SHH! SECRET!

I'll gladly do my research and learn things the hard way. You learn more that way. Filthy pirates.

I really want one for at home. My wife wants a suit of armour and I want that cabinet. I guess we're a bit of a strange couple. :D

Sorry for the multi-posting, hope it doesn't annoy anyone, but I had to reply to the warm welcome I've gotten. Once again, thanks to all!

Exept magic armour is my hobbie, that's why I'm asking...I'm doing chainmails and stuff like that :)
