Postby Laurent69 » Aug 19th, '05, 05:45

What is all the hype about with this Xtreme Beginners dvd? I am sure a lot of people will be disapointed by this poorly produced dvd. I don't care about Q...I think the dvd is targeting teenagers... So give me a break! This dvd makes Showoff With Cards dvd look like a masterpiece.

I don't think this should be in the review room, if you disslike the Xtrem beginnerz dvd you should tell us all why, not just coming here and telling us that it's not good.

This guy had the same user name over at Ellusionist... yes, there are some people here on both forums! I believe his first post there was the exact same title as well.

Anyway, Brad Christian himself banned him as all he does is badmouth things... especially De'vo for some reason.

I guess we're all entitled to our own opinions... negative or otherwise.

I've edited the title a bit to make it less offensive but, if the general consensus is that this thread ought not to carry on then we can easily delete it. At the moment, we'll leave it as personal comment and just keep an eye on things for a while.

Yes - what Mandrake says, although next time I would have prefered "CONSTRUCTIVE" comments to be added to the original review thread...

Yes, I have been banned from the Ellusionist forum...

Laurent,

There's no need to keep sending me PM's mate.

Apologies if I upset you by revealing your alter-ego, but your PM's are neither constructive, polite, or anything to do with magic anyway.

You obviously have a lot of spare time on your hands to keep hassling people in forums, and I guess everyone has to have a hobby, but I work fairly long hours, so only find the time to reply to those who send me considerate messages.

Unfortunately I won't be replying to yours...

If anyone else has this DVD could they please do a proper review for us please, i was considering buying it.

I am not really a flourishy man myself tho.

Like it makes you look like a master with cards who has 2 much time on his hands, not a magician.

Basic flourishes are good buy advance stuff is for people who need girlfriends.

Let's be honest here. Xtreme Beginnerz dvd is for people who want to showoff. So personally, I would get the Showoff With Cards dvd. Not only do you get more moves for your money, but the explanations are much more concise. In Xtreme Beginnerz, so much time is wasted on topics that are useless. In fact, some of the material is so boring. I am refering to Q, and some basic explanations on manicures, how to dress, what to carry with you for a performance, etc. Great info if I you are 15!

Never before has so much hype been created around a "cards" dvd. And that's what it boils down to; marketing. I don't regret having purchased this dvd, as I enjoy the art of card manipulation, especialy by De'vo. But the rest on this dvd is useless, pointless, absurd, abonoxious, revolting, disgusting, sickning, disturbing....you get my point!

Maybe to you it is. A lot of people would probably find it more than useful.

As was once said in Aesop's Fables... "Please all, and you will please none."

Instead of slating the Xtreme DVD, why not submit a review of "Showoff" and let people decide for themselves?

I have heard nothing but good things about the Xtreme Beginnerz DVD. It teaches the basics of XCM and with hand exercises by finger dexterity master Greg Irwin. Then you've got De'vo and Jerry Cestowski teaching excellent moves.

Ok... I agree that some moves are basic but I would rather start at a basic level rather than from the middle or the hardest. It's just like my piano... I regret doing hard songs and now I don't know my basics.

And I've got Showoff with Cards and to be honest, it really is bad. Ok, some fairly good moves but the person who teaches it is a poor teacher who does the moves nowhere near the speed of De'vo or Cestowski etc.

So I wouldn't say Xtreme Beginnerz is worse than Showoff with Cards. I'll continue the review of Xtreme Beginnerz when I get it (hopefully tommorow).
