Jumping Jacks

Postby rcarlsen » Aug 20th, '05, 09:42

This is an older recordring of mine, of a routine called "Jumping Jacks". It's a twisting the aces routine. I don't think I have shared it with you earlier... Hope you like it, all comments as usual welcome.

Great video as ever Rune... I have enjoyed watching all the ones you posted on here, and the ones on your website too.

Keep up the good work!

At last you've posted a video of something that I can and do perform

As usual, superb handling of the cards and great choice of music.

I know, I know

I've known the basics such as DL's, palms, forces etc. for a few years now and have been able to perform these to a good standard. However, I have been specifically concentrating on improving my card skills over the past few months and my repetoire is expanding nicely.

In the past I've concentrated on other areas of magic, perhaps a little too much at the expense of my card skills.

I love variety and perform with rope, cards, coins, metal bending and some non card based mentalism. I also do the basics such as linking rings, cups and balls, egg bag etc and to a good standard as well.

I've a fairly good repetoire but have realised that some areas, and in particular my work cards and coins is where I now need to expand my knowledge. Part of my realisation is through reading and watching the posts made on TM.

There's always something else to learn and while I'm still drawing breath I'll never lose the desire to learn more.

I guess that's party because coins and cards, really requires alot of work. I am not saying that ropes doesn't but I am pretty sure there is pretty much more work in the sleights of cards, than in ropes. But again, ropes are really nice and fun. I haven't been using ropes for a long time, but I used to perform the professor routine as well as one more, which is a must if you do ropes. Maybe I should pick it up again... Hmm....

I agree and I suppose the we all have our favourites and it's all too easy to get carried away. I think that there are many more routines for ropes that people perhaps realise.

I for one have had a great deal of enjoyment from performing with them.

Hey Rune.....

I use the "Twisting the aces" routine as well, but someone once suggested to use the A-2-3-4 of the same suit and have them turn over one at a time in order......I have since abandoned using four of the same cards, as I found the different cards seem to leave a bigger visual impression!

Just a thought!

Larry Jenings "Ambitious classic" uses the 12345 of the same suit and has a surprising finish...will post a vid of it later
