New Tricks!?

Postby SirRawlins » Aug 25th, '05, 17:16

Hello Ladies and Gents,

Have been reading a couple of posts through out the forum discussing the ins and out of BEST PRACTICES when it comes to developing a new trick of your own.

I am trying to understand what classifies a trick as "new" ... i mean, i have been working on a little somthing for the last few hours, but how can i ensure its origionality?

How would you define a trick as being "NEW" ... is it at the effect level? or do you take into acount the routine? ... or is it just down to using an origional patter?

Thanks,

Rob

Does it matter if it's new? As long as you think it looks good and would work then you can use it. If it is new then great you have something unique, but if not then who cares?

From time to time you'll come across a post from someone that has an avatar that defines them as an expert or innovator. Seige is perhaps the most frequent of them that posts but no offence if I'm missing anyone else off the list.

When you see this, know that you're usually in the presence of someone who has created something that is new and has brought it to the market.

Sometimes it's an extensive reworking or a trick or a different application of a principle that's old, but rarely is it simply a repackaged trick with new patter, unless of course it has MagicMakers Inc. on the packaging.

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!
